Stopped breastfeeding during the day - is my baby getting enough milk?

My DS is almost 7 months old. I've always been a bit of a reluctant breastfeeder - just don't enjoy it - and have been trying to get him to take a bottle for about 6 weeks now. Finally, last week, he took 7 ounces of formula in a bottle a couple of days in a row so I decided i would stop feeding him during the day and give him formula instead. I'm going back to work soon so it's important he takes milk somehow.

i was really pleased with how it was going - I'm still feeding him at bedtime and dreamfeed, first thing in the morning and a small feed before his morning nap but I wanted him to take a bottle for his 11.00 and 16.00 feeds. But he's now started refusing the bottle again! The last two days he hasn't had any milk from the bottle so has hardly had anything during the day :(. Does anyone have any experience with this - I know he's supposed to have a pint of milk a day but I don't know if he's getting that from the feeds I'm doing.

So worrying, and just as my boobs adjusted to the change, too!
i really don't want to go back to bf during the day. I am putting as much milk as I can into his meals (he's a great eater) and offering him milk from a beaker, but no joy. I guess i'm just after a bit of reassurance...

TIA

Hi Blonde

I'm not sure and found there's a lot less information on stopping than on persevering with breastfeeding. I may have cut the daytime feeds a bit early, but my dd let me know by quaffing loads of cheese and yogurt. I think the babies let us know what they need.

Hope that helps

Just stick it out. As long as he's getting enough fluids somehow he will be absolutely fine. He's drinking plenty in the evenings and if it gets very hot before he accepts the bottle again you can give him other fluids in all sorts of ways.

Don't stress.He'll be fine.

Thanks both. I feel I have to stick it out now that I've made the decision. I'm just nervous because I keep hearing that milk is their main nutrition before they're one... However, he's a very healthy little thing so maybe I'll just keep an eye on his weight/nappies and continue as I am.

Thanks for your help!
