Biting DD making me not want to feed

DD is now 7 months old and last night bit me for the first time. She has now bitten me at prety much every feed and its making me feel that I don't want to feed her, so much so that I'm tearful about it :(
I feel that I'm over-reacting but I have been putting up with pinching (I have bruises on my arm to prove it) and scratching without much complaint but this is just a step too far.
I'm taking her off as soon as she bites but then don't want to put her back on, i just don't know what to do, especially as she won't take a bottle.
Sorry for the moan - just need to vent

My little one is 8.5 months old.
She started biting at 7 months. My daughter only has her bottom teeth which I have been told can't bite whilst actively nursing.
My problem was she bit at the begining and end of a feed.
I tackle it in two ways, when I begin nursing I place my finger over her teeth until her tongue sticks out then remove so she cannot bite me.
The second thing is that when she does bite I say NO in a very loud voice and put her down and walk away. I only start nursing again after a 5 minute break.
Both of these methods have helped me. Neither are fool proof but there is a definate improvement.

my dts are almost 7 months, and between dt2 (pincher) and dt1 (biter) I feel your pain :(

I am having some success (ie now getting a few days between bites) by being very consistent. every time she bites, I say no, don't scream (she loved that), put her down on the floor and walk away. sometimes she laughs, sometimes she cries. but she has teeth and has drawn blood before, and I need this to stop.

kellymom has more info. apparently most babies stop quite quickly.

Thank you ladies, its good to know I'm not alone and don't have over sensitive nipples while that other people have developed nipples of steel :o

I am saying NO quite loudly and stop feeding so hopefully that will work. I'm trying to remain calm and not scream but am strugging to keep the tears away.
I don't think it helps that its happened in between the bank holidays so all my friends are either on holiday or their partners are at home while my OH is working long days to make up for so many other people being off - being on your own all day allways makes things seem bad (DD is lovely but not exactly stimulating conversation! Blush)!
