Introducing a bottle of bm

HAve begun to try giving dd (9weeks) a bottle of bm once a day about the same sort of time of day. Dh always gives it to her, but she seems to struggle to take it. I know we've only tried a few days already, but ds took to it quite quickly at a similar age ( i think, it was 7 years ago) and would like to be able to go out for an evening and leave a bottle of bm, also returning to work in July and am trying to be patient and not freak out that she will never have a bottle. Have been using avent bottles witha 2 teat, today i've bought some tommee tippee closer to nature ones in hope that they are supposed to make it easier to combine breast and bottle. Any tips? Or do i just try to chill and let her become used to the feel of the bottle in her mouth? Would a dummy help? TIA

not a fat lot of help from me, but didn't want you to go unanswered! DD was BF but we started giving her expressed milk when she was about four four months old so i could have a break and a bit of adult time in the evening, so i know where you're coming from! maybe she's a bit young for it yet, 9weeks is still very young, i'd give it a few more weeks BF and then have another go.

so as i say, not a lot of help from me, but a hopeful bump that someone with more knowledge will see and post! [cgrin]

flower haven't got much advice either as struggled to get both of mine to take a bottle. That was before I'd discovered Kellymom and its wonderful advice though HTH.

try different teats, bottles, Ive tiried most of them on the market while my DD was still refusing to give it go! she gave up at 11 months but I dont think it is any help for you....

maybe a cup or finger/syringe feeding? we've tried all three in special care, the finger feeding is kind of lovely. its warm and vaguely nipple shaped, it takes a while but the milk goes in... I'm sorry, I don't know what else to suggest but I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone.
