introducing a beaker instead of bottle?

my nearly 9 month old will not drink from a bottle at all. I was hoping to introduce a cup for her to drink water with her meals (she breastfeeds about 4 or 5 times a day so I dont think I need to give her extra milk in the cup). I was thinking if I introduced water in the beaker now then moved her over from breastmilk to cows milk in the beaker after a year I could bypass the bottle altogether since she finds it so hard to drink from a bottle.

Is there a particular type of beaker that best for a younger baby and whats the best way to move from breastfeeding to cup/beaker milk once shes a year?

my other children were formula fed so they just carried on as normal with bottles until closer to two!

I started using a simple free-flow sippy cup for water at about 5 months - at first ds needed help with it but now (8.5 months) he can do it himself. He has occasional formula/cow's milk from it when I'm not around too.

I went straight from breast to cup as DD wouldn't entertain a bottle. We use a simple free flow cup, either Tommee Tippee or Boots own brand - altho I think both types leak a bit.

A friend uses a Doidy cup, they are meant to be good but they are open and I am lazy about mopping up mess so I didn't try them.

Doidy cup is lovely but only put a little in it as it is open. Grin
