Oh yes! I've eaten my weight in chocolate many a time. Cake doesn't touch the sides. 7 months on and i'm about half a size smaller than before pregnancy so I must be balancing it out somehow.

I ate loads when I was breastfeeding. I would just listen to your body and if it says you need a lot of rice pudding, just do what it tells you and eat the rice pudding Grin. Plenty of time to lose the weight when you are running round after a toddler.

Yes, me, to the point where I feel there is something wrong with me. I bought a bag of mini toblerones yesterday andtoday they are all gone!

LaCiccolina · 19/04/2011 19:08

Yup me too. Got told by one midwife that I was using up 500 extra calories a day (min!) breast feeding. Presently lost 1.5 stones! Im thinner than before I started being pregnant. I only BF'd in the first place because it really hadn't occurred to me to do anything else. Had someone told me about the extra calorie burn I might have been much keener! Going to have to slow on the chocs soon though or when I start weaning Ill balloon back again.

Ah well, if I do, Ill just have child number 2 and try again..... ;0)

Have just seen this and am so relieved it's not just me!

Have eaten so many choc ices, biscuits, wagon wheels, and so much yoghurt it's unreal.

Am an eating machine in general too, it's like being pg all over again but with a 2-week-old baby at the same time.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 19/04/2011 19:16

I always found the appetite dropped back again after a few months and the weight came off naturally.

Rosebud05 · 19/04/2011 19:18

I definitely had this for the first few weeks with both of mine. I think the sheer amount of adrenalin surging round your system and hormonal changes contribute as well as the losing energy and tiredness thing. I do remember with dd taking food and drink upstairs with me to bed because I knew I'd need to eat in the night.

It did settle down quite quickly, then I just ate sugar because it tastes nice rather than because I felt like I really needed it.

LakeFlyPie · 19/04/2011 22:27

I find my sugar cravings definitely correlate with degree of sleep deprivation.
Am 5 months in and still waiting for the weight to 'drop off'

I think my milk must taste of mini eggs! I've never eaten so much chocolate or cake!!

Bumperlicioso · 19/04/2011 22:38

I mainlined galaxy for the first 4 months! Managed to wean myself off it mostly. I find sugar begets sugar cravings.

Cies · 19/04/2011 22:42

In the first months I craved sugar. Since DS has been eating solids I've been hoovering up his leftovers, which are a bit more balanced, so getting most of my extra calories from there (although mini eggs are so addictive!). Luckily the weight still stays off, despite eating about 5 meals a day. I love bf Smile

PussinJimmyChoos · 20/04/2011 09:05

I agree the more sugar you eat, the more you want but its hard to stop! Not helped by DH who has a sweet tooth anyway and is more than enthusiastic at having junk in the house!

I was hoping B'feeding would help me lose weight!

Like LFP, I found my sugar cravings were caused by sleep deprivation. If you're really really tired, sometimes it feels like a cheap way to get a bit of energy.

It only kind-of works, and you're soon back in the trough, but it's hard to remember that when you're soooo tired ...

FaintlyMacabre · 20/04/2011 09:54

I found myself stirring condensed milk into Ambrosia rice pudding the other day, as it just wasn't sweet enough already Blush. Luckily we've just moved to a very hilly area and the weight is falling off!

bunnyfrance · 20/04/2011 11:43

Apparently breastfeeding uses the same amount of calories per day as swimming 20 lengths or something like that! So it's the perfect excuse really....

Paschaelina · 20/04/2011 12:05

I was most disappointed last night when DH came home at 8.30pm with 3 bottles of wine but no bloody chocolate. I had to actually go and get some (this means a 20 drive to the nearest tesco).

I really really need to start weaning myself off chocolate otherwise there will be problems soon.

bunnyfrance I already do swim twice a week (well once for me and once for the Boy) so maybe I could just up that and still have the chocolate?

PussinJimmyChoos · 20/04/2011 21:57

I would like the weight to drop off of me with no effort whatsoever....yeah, like that is going to happen!
