Is Breast enough........

My DD is ten weeks old now and i have been solely breastfeeding! I am starting to get worried that I'm not producing enough milk to satisfy her? My right breast always seems to produce a lot and I tend to feed mostly from that side whereas the left breast never seems to get that 'full feeling' like the right breast does. Is there anything I can do to help produce more milk...if this is needed...I won't just 'dry up' Confused . Any advice?!

Does your dd seem contented after feeds? How many wet/pooey nappies is she producing? What is her weight gain like? These are the best ways to check she is getting enough milk. How often do you feed her?

If you are feeding frequently, and she is contented with plenty of wet/dirty nappies and is gaining weight, then there doesn't seem to be a problem.

The fact that you feed more on your right breast will be the reason it seems to produce more milk (the more you feed from a breast, the faster the speed of milk production), this will also be the reason it does not feel 'full'. Your milk production will have adjusted to meet your baby's needs, so your breasts don't become over engorged. Could you feel from each breast more equally? This will mean they are both emptied frequently and one doesn't become more engorged than the other.

Aslong as you are feeding frequently, and she is feeding effectively (e.g. extracting milk from the breast) then your milk won't just dry up.

Milk supply works on a supply and demad basis so the more you feed the more you produce.

It's quit common for mum and/or baby to preffer one side over the other, there can be any no of reasions for this. You prefering holding one side over the other/ baby latching better one side or being less fussy on one breast. This isn't actualy a problem you can feed quit well from just one breast. If you want to avoid feeling overfull on the side you prefer then feeding more from the other side would help even things out.

Plus feeling full isn't always a great thing. The fuller the breast the less milk it will produce, as milk production work's on supply and demand the only time milk production stops is when your breast feel's very full.

Yes agree with above, think of feeding like placing your order in a restaurant. The more you feed (order), the more you get!

Yes, agree with the others. Try not to worry, as long as she has plenty of dirty/wet nappies and is gaining weight well, then you are producing enough. Keep feeding her whenever she wants it, and your supply will naturally adjust to her needs.
