Don't want to quit but...

DS2, 8 months tomorrow, BF but has a bottle for dreamfeed and has done for months.
Feeds usually once at night, fine. Daytime feeds are awful, he latches on for literally a second, then off then on again. He's on solids, doing BLW, loves his food and from his nappies, he's obviously ingesting a fair amount. I know the majority of his calories still need to be milk, but he's really not keen at the moment.
Back to work in 8 weeks so was going to introduce a bottle for his mid day feed anyway, but part of me if wondering whether I'd just be better switching to formula completely. I don't want to stop, but he just doesn't seem interested. Help!

Whyriskit - some babies do go through a distractible phase at around 8-10 months (see here).

On going back to work it might be well possible to partially bf (morning/night or as suits you) and partially ff it that's what you want to do or your could do all ff or just send food/water with your DS to childcare if he is so good with his food now and feed morning/night. It really down to what works best for your family.

How often are you breast feeding during the day? It maybe that he is just not as hungry. I started to introduce a bottle during the day about 2 months before I went back to wk and was lucky in that my dd seemed happy with either! I suppose I wanted to cut down my supply a bit as didn't want to be feeling too full or worse having leaky boobs at work!!! I work in the community as a nurse so expressing at work would have been difficult.

However I was able to continue with the morning and evening/night feeds for another 3 months and although in hind sight I wish I had kept going a bit longer (dd was 11 months) it felt like the right time to stop.

Thanks for the help and advice. I think he is distracted by life and his older brother! And because he has taken to solids so well, he probably isn't so hungry - I've probably just got used to my snackmonster feeding every two hours!

I had exactly the same thing and was convinced DD was losing interest. I kept going but was a bit anxious about how much she was getting/my supply. In the end one day she was interested again and we're still going strong at 14 months.

My DS was horribly distractible starting at around 8 months. If we were out of the house he'd scream instead of feeding, even if he was hungry. As soon as he turned 11 months it stopped.
