Very painful cuts around nipple

My very lovely 13 week old ds got a fright when feeding a couple of days ago and chomped right down and locked his little jaws around my nipple. I can only compare it to a car door being slammed on it!!

Since then it has become increasingly more painful to feed from that side. There are two clear little cuts (look sort of like paper cuts) that sting if anything touches them and I honestly see stars with the agony when he latches on.

I can't just feed from one side (or the other will balloon!!), the thought of using pump also makes me cringe and lansinoh has not yet worked any magic. Anyone got ANY ideas at all?? Psyching myself up for a dreamfeed (usually one of my favourite moments of the day) and cringing bigtime...

Jelonet worked wonders for me. Starts to heal nipple trauma within a few hours. Worked much better than lansinoh for me. You can get it at any pharmacy, just cut it to the required size, and change with each feed till it heals. Wipe off before feeds though. If the cut is deep, try to get the jelonet into the cut.

I got a hole that wouldn't heal when DS got his top teeth through and it scraped through about 4 layers of skin. Feeding was agony because it reopened the wound every time he fed. I started feeding lying down for that side every single feed so the teeth were in a different place and within 4 days it was better having had the chance to scab over and heal itself.

Nipple shields saved the day for me - you shouldn't worry about 'nipple confusion' at 13 weeks. It's worth a try.

Also changing position (rugby ball?) helped. And expressing hurt a bit but wasn't nearly as bad as baby's unpredictable mouth!
