DS's tongue tie has been snipped

and his feeding improved straight away.
The few times that he has fed really well, I have suddenly realised he wasn't. It was still tricky and painful.
Feeding is now completely pain free, my nipples look normal, his cheek doesn't suck in any more, and did I mention it is now pain free? :o

How come Dr's are so reluctant to recognise this?
I had to insist on a referral, and felt like a pushy cow, because ds was putting on weight, so according to the dr everything was fine.

Grin really pleased for you, I have a friend who is in the process of getting the appointment, I have no idea why they are so reluctant to do it. Must be so nice being pain free.

It really depends on where you are - midwives/doctors were reaaly keen to snip ds's TT even though it wasn't affecting feeding. Baby Friendly hospital though so maybe that makes a difference?

I think a lot of it comes down to a lack of knowledge by the professionals.

Same thing happened to us. We were in hospital for 3 weeks when DS was born (long story), and although the tongue tie was spotted, and it took a long time to establish BF, nobody would do anything about it.

We nearly gave up but in the end mentioned it to our lovely HV when we got home, she said 'well that's ridiculous, let's get it sorted' and it made a world of difference (I can hear DS through the baby monitor blowing raspberries as I type, he wouldn't have been able to do that with the tongue tie that he had!).

It's such a simple and quick procedure it's a shame it isn't readily available.

Well done for persevering faverolles, enjoy the pain-free feeding Grin
