My MW suggested looking in to CO for my DD who is 9 days old. Think she is developing colic, very windy, always wanting to be on my breast 24/7 and I mean that seriously. When I take her off she goes nuts! Resulting in me having approx 3 hours sleep the last 2 days, only provided by co-sleeping.
So willing to try anything but not sure what is involved with CO and don't want to hurt her!

Hi there,
I've had a good experience with Co. I took DS when he was little and it calmed him down and he seemed less windy after a few sessions.

It's totally hands off and to watch it, you wouldn't think it could have any effect. That said, there are lots of mnetters who will testify to its success. I rang a local natural health clinic and had a chat with the lady who does it first just to check that his symptoms were something that she could help with.

I think I paid about 30 pounds for the initial session followed by about 25.00 after that. IME, 3 or 4 sessions should sort it.

Sorry you're having a hard time of it at the moment, as you know though, 9 days is very new, so DD will want to be close to you and your body for alot of the time

It won't always be like this though- that's something to bear in mind.
Smile

Poor you. I am having hopefully my last session tomorrow and it has helped me so much. My 18 week old DS has never wanted to go in his cot or moses basket and napping has been a nightmare. One day he had an hour all day despite being driven round, pushed and rocked. We were both miserable. After our first session with a CO (we found one on recommendation in harrogate if you're anywhere near I can heartily recommend her) he slept for two hours in cot and I had to wake him! It was a miracle. He now has three naps a day in his cot, is happier and even gaining weight (was on 25th centile and slow weight gainer). I do know people it hasnt worked for but it defo helped us. Its worth a try. Good luck.

Oh and the younger the better apparently. Takes less sessions.

My DD1 was exactly like this - windy, refused to be put down and had terrible colic which resulted in her screaming for hours on end in the evening (and then on and off again all night!) We took her to the CO when she was 3 weeks old out of sheer desperation, and she had 2 sessions and the screaming stopped! Like CrikeyBadger says, it's so gentle, you wouldn't think they were actually doing anything, but it made such a difference. (It's not like physio with lots of manhandling, think more of a very gentle massage... :) )
It cost about 30 quid a session and worth every penny IME. I hope it works for you and you get some sleep!

Didn't work for us - but the CO said DS didn't have any bad problems. I went because of sleeping issues rather than feeding.

We did ask a paediatrician friend beforehand though - his view was that it was a load of bunkum but wouldn't do any damage.

Other people's treatments were cheap - ours was £50 a session!
