How do you know when to move up a teat size?

Baby is 8 weeks old tomorrow and we are still using the newborn (size one in Avent terms) teats. He is comfortably in the 0-3 (size 2) teat age range, but I don't know whether to try them as he seems perfectly happy with the size 1 teats. He has reflux, so feeding faster is probably not a good thing anyway...

any tips?

Instead of replacing a teat, why don't you widen the hole and see if it makes a difference. Although if he's happy enough with the teat he's on I'd be sticking with it. DD is 8 weeks old this week and is still on the newborn teats and she's a quick feeder with no reflux or any upchuckiness.

My 2 year old still has newborn teats Blush. He's never complained!

you can generally tell when they are ready for a faster flow as they will start getting frustrated when offered the slower flow teat, crying and may even reject the bottle as being too much trouble iyswim.

I would keep your LO on the newborn one until you see signs of frustration.

You can tell a teat is too fast as they will splutter and milk will dribble out the sides of their mouths. I imagine it is quite unpleasant for the baby with milk flooding their mouths.

Thanks guys, well he splutters and dribbles a LOT even on the newborn teats so I guess we'll stick to those for now!
