Colic and Yakult?

Has anyone heard of Yakult being a good way to ease colic? I came across it online and just wanted to find out whether anyone had tried it with success, and how much should be used. We have tried everything else!

Thanks.

Dunno. Have used it on self for upset tummy. It is cow's milk, so I suppose it would only be good for an age appropriate baby. You'll find threads on here about fennel tea, which can be used earlier.

Tea and yoghurt aren't suitable for a baby under 6 months though.

Do you mean eating yakult yourself and breastfeeding?

Haven't used yakult but you can get probiotic drops suitable from newborn. They are called bio gaia and worked wonders with my baby's colic. Nothing else worked and believe me, we tried everything.

You can order them online and I believe you can also ask a pharmacy to order them in for you. They are about £20 I think and this lasts a few weeks. I recommend them to everyone with colicy babies, they were a lifesaver for us but aren't very well known.

Good tip mary.

I took yakult in 3rd tri every day and contiued after pregnancy (DS is 5 weeks). I read that mothers who took it could have less colicy babies - not true in my case.

I am drinking lots of fennel tea also.

Probiotic drops for baby and capsules for you would make far more sense if you think probiotics are needed. The drinks have relatively low doses and lots of stuff you don't need/want.
