Breastfeeding chair

(34 weeks, 1st pregnancy) DH thinks that BFing would be a good excuse to buy a Poang chair from IKEA - www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S79860695

but I think the back looks a bit slouchy: would this be a better option
www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90112164 ?

Would investing in tonnes of pillows/ cushions be more useful? At the mo I find sitting on our couch uncomfortable at times- it's too 'deep'

How important is posture/comfort when "learning" to BF, and once you've got the hang of it can you pretty much BF on a rollercoaster Grin ?

Those chairs have a bit of bounce which is nice but not great for bf, need bigger armrests without hard edges. breastfeeding cushions are a good buy (crescent shaped ones) because they raise the baby up to boob height so you're not slounching. V shaped cushions also good. Advantage of going cushion route is you can take them with you if you go to another room.

We have one of those, and i've found it great for breastfeeding in. I have a cushion behind me as well, as otherwise the back is a bit slouchy. Not tonnes of cushions, just one firm one (or use a pillow off the bed). Another pillow to put the baby on helps at first. Yes, being able to sit up straight matters quite a bit for the first few weeks, but once you've both got the hang of it, you can do it hanging upside down (well, maybe not that.) But, really, I probably wouldn't buy a chair just for breastfeeding, as quite soon any chair will do.

We have one of those, with the footstool and its ok but not ideal- it's also quite deep and a bit of an effort to get in and out holding a baby.

Agree a pillow for your back is needed, plus a pillow or bf cushion for baby (but someone on here recommeded to support the arm, not the baby, helped me a lot).

I end up using the office chair more as it's easier to adjust up and down or feeding cross-legged on the sofa.

The posture thing is important because you spend so much of your time feeding. A lot of the time you'll be too tired to care, but I think it's worth making the effort not to slouch. I have a bad habit of leaning over to make boob reach DD when I feed her in the night and wake up v. sore. Easily fixed with a rolled up blanket under my arm.

I have a poang and a footstool, I third the cushion for lumbar support and for under your arm as the arms of the chair do did in if you are sat feeding for a while. I love the bounce on it, I found it helps rock a grizzly baby without your arms dropping off!
