Hi everyone

DS is 4 weeks old and since birth has been a very hungry baby. He latched on straight away and my supply is v good. I read that babies tend to feed for 15 - 20 mins on each boob but mine consistently is feeding for an hour (on same boob sometimes). During the day, he tends to feed every 1-2 hours. He throws up quite a bit and has trapped wind but I assume this is because he feeds so much.

Anyone experienced the same? If so, when did feeds shorten?

My son is 4 weeks today and is doing pretty much the same thing.

He was a big baby when born so i'm assuming he eats so much cause of his size.

The spewing is new i thought he might be making him self too full. I'm posting so you don't feel alone. I'd love some reaasurance

Mine wasn't a particularly big baby but still often fed for an hour every two hours at first! I can't remember when it shortened really, by 3 months it was probably more like 15 mins a side.

Hi, congrats on the baby! I am no pro but I asked a very similar question when my DD was younger. I now realise that babies especially when they are that young need to spend a lot of time attached to your boob as it's not all about food, it is also about comfort and closeness. My advice is find a comfy spot on the sofa and get people to supply you with tea and cake!
My DD settled down at about 8 weeks and now at 14 weeks spends less and less time attached to my boob and more time interacting with the world around her except when she is poorly or overtired.

Thanks for the reassurance. He went through cluster feeding towards 3 weeks but feeds have since become longer. He was 6.4lb at birth and weighed 7.1lb at 3 weeks and so it is paying off!
