Genetically modified cows produce 'human' milk

Torygraph article here.

I don't even know where to begin with this Sad

Sounds so convincingly safe doesn't it Confused. And it's not like we don't already have a perfectly adequate way of producing human milk Angry

P.S. I do understand that some women have problems with milk production or breast feeding, so don't flame me. This genetically modified nonsense is hardly going to be the answer though is it?

"The modified bovine milk is a possible substitute for human milk. It fulfilled the conception of humanising the bovine milk." Humanised bovine milk anyone?

"The researchers also insist having antimicrobial proteins in the cows milk can also be good for the animals by helping to reduce infections of their udders."

There was another thread here. Mumsnet doesn't seem to be convinced. Smile

Thanks RJandA, at least it wasn't just me who raised several metaphorical eyebrows (and a couple of real ones) at this 'news'

I can't but help think it's just another step on the long and slippery slide to some horrific human/animal hybrid that can be conveniently farmed for whatever harvest big business thinks it can extort money from us on.
