Trying to get 7 month old to take a bottle... friendly help needed

Ds2 was born at 36+6 no problems and he took the bottle a couple of times after a month but then we left it too long Blush and he's been refusing it ever since. We started weaning at 6 months and he is ok with puree and takes it well from everyone but very fussy when I try to feed him puree. I have him all day and end up breastfeeding when he doesn't take the food to avoid being up all night with a hungry baby. At weekends dh gets him to take more food and we get better sleep.

DS1 had no teething issues but DS2 gums everything and is only interested in getting relief from teething with sippy cups and spoons rather than drinking or eating.

We want to finish breastfeeding a 9 months and move him onto formula until he is 1 and can have cows milk.

The only overnight (big 40th bash in town) we managed to escape to involved my Mum offering the bottle at 4pm and him finally taking at 1am. Cue sunken fontanelle & dehydrated child.... which was only just worth the freedom for :(

He is hugely into comfort suckling and dream feeding and to keep the peace and ensure ds1 & dh get a good nights sleep I haven't been discouraging this as much as I now think I should have done. I end up co-sleeping from 5am until we all get up which is exhausting for both. Then ds2 sleeps until 10am. Well he tries to but ds1 is very noisy.

We can get him to take the tommee tipee sippy cup with water a bit but when we put expressed breast milk (straight from the boob) in it he's having none of it. I tried the Medela special needs feeder & different bottle options but they didn't work.

I need to find a way forwards as we're going to 5 weddings, travelling, I'm going back to work and he'll need more milk for the next growth spurt & summer hydration. Any ideas?

i had a similar issue with DD. found the best time to try her with the milk was as soon as she woke up in the morning as she wasn't tired and was getting abit hungry. at first she only took 3 or 4 oz but gradually that got better.

positions can also be important. if i cradle her to feed she wont take it as she thinks i'm giving her the breast so i sit her up on my lap in front of her favourite tv program and feed her that way.

now that she's been doing this for a month i feel abit better about leaving her with my mum and knowing she will take some milk throughout the day

hope it gets easier for you x

that's very helpful thank you. The TV is off limits but position ideas are definitely worth considering I think I just have to crack on with formula.
