These bottles are very similar though not the same and there is routine confusion over the exact differences, so I thought I'd write what I know in a post...
-
Both bottles claim reduced colic, inner ear infections etc.
-
The bottles and packaging look almost identical. I believe one company is a licensee of the other. There have been legal disputes between the two companies.
-
People will sell them interchangeably (ie. you made order a Dr. Brown's bottle but receive a B-Free bottle, so if you have a preference double check exactly what you are buying !)
-
Specific Differences (and this I believe varies from country to country, but in the UK...):
B-Free bottle is made from a honey-coloured plastic which is Bisphenol-A free. This is apparently good. (Dr. Brown's is clear)
B-Free bottle has a heat sensitive painted tip on the end of their vent tube (Dr. Brown's - at least the bottles I've bought in Boots, don't).
B-Free has one extra component - a small, slitted, silicon 'cap' which covers the vent resevoir (Dr. Brown's don't, their vent resevoir protusion is bare).
- I've tried both and found the B-Free bottles more effective at reducing air-in-the-milk (which makes for smoother feeds, less spit up, trapped gas etc. IMO).
You can see details about the B=Free bottles, and order with free next day p&p here
I can't find the manufacturer's home page for Dr. Brown's (do post if you know it), but there is information from their Hong Kong distributor here
The teats on both bottles feel, and look, the same to me. The stamping on the base of the teat (denoting brand / teat size) can be different. B-Free also sell latex as well as silicon teats; not sure about Dr. Brown's (teats should be interchangeable, though check the 'bottle width' as I have seen some Dr. Brown's bottles which are described as 'wide-mouth,' and some as 'standard').
HTH !
PS - The double-spacing in this post is down to tech, not me, LOL !
