I would express at the same times the feeds would be due. And since my expressing never goes well when I don't see dd, I'd keep her close or on my lap when expressing.

Here's a link to kellymom about nursing strikes with a lot more information.

Try expressing at night before bedtime too.

I apologise for not reading the other thread so ignore if you've been told this already. DSwent on strike for months (reflux/overactive letdown causing him problems) so I had to feed him when asleep/drowsy. That was easier at night - I slept in the same room as him and when he woke for a feed, he'd not be fully awake so could pop him on. I also uses to rock him to sleep for naps then pop him on the boob. Kept up my supply without expressing much at all.

I have been expressing at the same times as the feeds but supply dipping anyway. May not be necessary for much longer as she had 2 awake feeds this morning! So hoping the strike is over.

Don't worry about not reading the other thread Iggly, I deliberately posted seperately just to get some answers on how to increase supply if possible. Now that she's hopefully breastfeeding again I'll try a late night pumping session to boost supply.

I'm due to return to work in a few weeks and was hoping to continue breastfeeding but worried if I start off with a low supply I'm doomed to fail. DS2 weaned early at 1year and was hoping to carry on a bit longer this time.

Def getting her to feed once at night and/or expressing at night will help. I work and feed DS still and I think the night feed (sometimes more than one) is key as milk production is higher at night!
