Feeding still sore on one side - why?!

Dd is 6 weeks. Had cracked nipples for the first week but they then healed and right side has been great. I still get pain on my left side though. I did have some burning on that side and have just finished treatment for thrush. That pain is gone but I still feel pain when feeding. Nipple looks round and I have had no more cracks. Latch looks the same as the good side.

i have found that one side does feel more uncomfortable than the other, not sure if its the same, its more discomfort than pain. if it is pain then you should probably seek medical advice, i hope things get better soon

Hi, I had a similar problem, I continued feeding my ds on my comfortable breast and expressed on my sore side until it felt better then gradually introduced my ds back on to the problem breast... I don't know why it was so uncomfortable as the latch looked ok. He is now feeding from both breasts and both are comfortable.

You can also feed the expressed milk which I found to be a nice break from the constant feeding.

Get yourself checked if your worried

Good luck

It's not agony, it's just stinging sore. Hurst more towards the end of a feed. Sometimes at the end of a feed I have to take her off. Usually I can manage though. Got the HV out next week so will chat to her. She runs a breast feeding group so is good with this stuff.

I have the exact same problem, to the point where yesterday I kept taking her off too.

Its not been too bad today but Ive been using loads of lansinoh on the nip - there was a slight crack to the top of the nipple.

I also have to latch DD on differently on the uncomfortable side, as the shape, size and position of my nipple is different.

I think its because I got a bit lazy with latching her on properly, that it caused some damage, and subsequent feeds hurt.

I also think that half way through the feed she comes off a bit, so I have to keep relatching her on again.

She also is a great cluster feeder, so when my milk production is a bit low, it hurts to feed on that side?

Anyway, enough of the rambling, hope the HV helps you :)
