Breastflow bottles, anyone use them?

I have EBF DC3 for the past 12 wks and want to start combined feeding ready for when I go back to wrk in June & so that he can occassionally be left with Grandparents. Have been trying for past few wks but he is still only taking 1-2 ounces at most and not happy about it.
Have come across Breastflow bottles on the net and wondered if anyone has used them and whether they are as good as they claim to be.

using Tommee Tippee at the moment but they just seem to fill him full of wind as he gulps them, using a variflow teat.

Dd3 has them but she doesn't really drink from a bottle so I can't advise of whether they are better! I got them on a recommendation on here though.

I started using the Tommee Tippee bottles and found the same thing. The bottle that we have found works a treat is Dr. Browns. It sucks the air out and my DD seems to be taking these ones really well. Good luck!

We like Dr Browns too when FF and love it.

Tried breastflow few days ago and really dislike it but that's just me.

Few friends have recommended Dr Browns too. Think we'll try them instead. Hadn't heard of Breastflow so assumed that they we're very popular for some reason. Trip to Mothercare this weekend then. :)

Really didn't like the Breastflow either and DD didn't take anything from them. We also use Dr Browns.

Elena67 · 09/03/2011 21:42

We've used Breastflow and he has never had a problem going back and forth between breast and bottle - still breastfeeding morning and evening and bottles during the day while I'm working and he's 8 months now..

We've been using the Breastflow bottles since ds was a few weeks old, no problems with them or swapping back to the boob.

HappyAsASandboy · 09/03/2011 23:19

Another vote for breastflow here Smile

My twins both have the occasional bottle from a breastflow and go back to breast fine. Doesn't seem to have any effect on windiness ...

MrsGubbins · 10/03/2011 15:18

we're using them, took DD a few attempts to get it but she seems happy enough with them and gives them an "oooh" when she sees it in the kitchen!

Bought a Dr Brown, so far no joy, refused to take anything from it, in fact he's getting more & more militant about it each time we try. Don't want to give up though, have 2 yr old dd too so would be nice to be able to leave them with nana for an hour every now & then but heh, who said parenting was easy?

Stay at home mum's deserve a medal, I work with "challenging" teenages and they're defo easier than a militant baby & very forward toddler, at least I get a regular breaktime & warm coffee.

Have left DS with in-laws for an hour today and the little blighter happily polished off a whole carton of the ready made formula without any protests at all. They offered have him overnight but didn't think it was fair just in case he refused again later. Will have to keep at it.

MeeLoo. If you want to try a breast flow bottle, I'll happily send you one for free.

I bought a pack of 4 and since ds only has one bottle every few days and still not going well) I have 3 sitting open but unused in my kitchen.

Don't mind sending you one so you can try it before buying them!

(has bought loads of bottles in the last 3 months, ds not playing game with ANY of them)

MeelooMouloo · 14/03/2011 20:39

Thanks Pixie for your offer but he is doing really well with the Dr Browns. Has taken one formula feed a day for the past 3 days now & swapped back to the boob with no probs.

We had to leave ds with grandparent & aunt before he would drink from it. DD who is 2 now refused point blank to have one & went straight to trainer cup, she's still bloody minded now.

Fingers crossed your ds gets the idea sooner rather than later :)
