DD is 6 months & now has 2 bottom front teeth & OMG the pain when she bites me is excruciating!! Age had been EBF til last week, just introducing some baby rice now, but still nursing a lot. She doesn't bit me all the time & not when she's really hungry -often at the end of a feed when she's sasiated & playful.

How do you get past this? I LOVE breastfeeding & really want to continue til 12 months but ow, ow, ow!! Pressume it gets worse with every new tooth?

I put him down when he bites and say "No". It was never a huge problem until 10 months when he kept biting really hard for a week, I mixed fed him for 2 days while I healed. I wouldn't have done that at 6 months old though. Could you try nipple shields?

Now if he looks like he might be in a bitey mood I unlatch him before he gets the chance. If he is still hungry he soon lets me know and I let him back on.

a bit of teething gel can help too.

DD (15m, but still only 2 teeth) has only bitten me a couple of times (a lot less than DTSs did!) and I take her off straight away and say 'No!' very loudly. The first time she absolutely howled, second time looked vaguely affronted, and hasn't done it since.
With the DTs they just used to laugh at me if I yelped, little buggers scamps. I learned very quickly not to give them the satisfaction!

My dd1 did this a few times and I said the firm stern "no!" and took her away from the breast. She was very upset and didn't feed the rest of the day,I felt awful, but she didn't bite again.DD2 has never bitten and she is three and still bf.It seems more of an age thing than a getting worse with each tooth thing,as its often connected with teething the front teeth.

Thanks. I'd been trying the 'no!' approach but my mum made me feel I was a bit mad trying to reason with a 6mo in that way!

Have bought some nipple shields but only time I tried them DD kept ripping them off, first with her hands then when swaddled with her teeth!

Btw I v much hope the next teeth are few & far between, that would rest my fears a bit!

Oh no, I am dreading this. DD is 8.5 months and no teeth yet, but she's drooling loads at the moment, red cheeks etc., I'm sure one's about to pop. And she is being a complete monkey on the boob at the moment. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the teeth strike. Sad

Also, I do worry this may be the end of BF in public, having shrieked in pain in Subway to very bemused & alarmed glances!
