17mo on nursing strike - is this it?

My 17 month old DS is having a nursing strike - he cries and fusses when I offer him the breast and sometimes starts to retch. He's teething at the moment and very upset about it and has had colds/ vomiting for every tooth so far (7) - dr says just to wait it out.

Its now 24 hours since he last fed and I'm feeling really uncomfortable and quite upset about it. it doesn't help that he is clearly miserable but doesn't want me to feed him or cuddle him particularly.

Is it worth trying to get bf back? I'm back at work and have a 4yo DD so not a lot of time with just him. If not, how can I make us both more comfortable?

I'd say it's definitely worth trying if you think you want to continue with bf.

Will he feed when sleepy? My 13 m.o. went on strike for 12 days recently due to ear/chest infection plus teething/sickness bug. He'd feed when he needed to go to sleep, or (sometimes) when he woke but wasn't properly awake.

Are you expressing at all - that will help keep up your supply (although it's a right pain having to do it).

Kellymom has some info.

I would keep expressing just to keep your supply up. There's a possibility that he is self weaning, but keep offering your breast in the meantime as he may just be going through a fussy phase.
