Weaning off Formula

My DD who is 13months today and dairy intolerant was having 7oz in the morning at 6ish and 9oz at night at 7ish. The last 2 mornings she has only had 3 oz of milk in the morning. Could it be that she is ready to stop this bottle. If so will she be hungry as breakfast is at 8.30am at nursery. It could be her teeth and may go back to it but I just want to be ready to do an alternative if necessary. We have offered other drinks but she isnt really interested.

Tagging on to this I am also concerned about how much medised, calpol and ibuprophen we have been giving her lately. Due to an on going cold and cough she has been suffering quite a lot. Sometimes though I feel we have given it to her too quickly. Any thoughts or suggestions.

Cheers

are you still giving formula (I assume not milk based as you have said she is dairy intolerant) in bottle? we found that moving DS to a sipper cup/beaker helped the milk go down

if you stop giving her the formula, how will you supplement the calcium?

in regards to the medicine, we have had similar concerns in past, and try to take the "is he really bad" approach, meaning, if he is miserable and crying and not himself then he gets calpol, but if he is just whinging, then no

We use Pepti Junior a veg based milk. She currently has lots of soya yoghurt and has soya milk on her cereal. Going to dietcian in Dec. Have tried a cup/beaker for the mornings but it didnt work too well. will try again with a different cup. The cups we have dont take 7oz and any break to top up means that DD will not continue drinking once she has broken off. The initial hunger is gone!

Thanks

there is a sipper top by advent that fits ontop of the 8 oz bottles, and that is what we use - it has a value in it to prevent spills

Yes we have those but DD tends to just chew and not drink from them.

well, maybe if she doesn't want the morning bottle, she will compensate by eating more at breakfast - i think as long as she is getting the equivalent amount per day (in milk or other forms) then you shouldn't be too worried - perhaps she is just asserting her independence

Well we gave the avent rubber cup teat thingy a go this morning and she drank it all. Def was teething and glad she is happy to drink from this also.

Cheers for all the suggestions
