Big Boobed - Bra Sling/Hammock???

Can anyone help - my m/wife recommended I hunt down a bra hammock which will help hoist my boobs up when i'm feeding.

I've tried googling and can't find anything? She thought the NCT might have one - but i can't see one on their website.

Just wondered if anybody knew where I could get one? Smile

I'm watching with interest as my wrists are sore from hoicking up my mahoosive knockers feeding my DS.

LOL. Also watching with interest, but have been making do fairly well by sticking a pair of rolled-up sport socks underneath the breast, for support and aim.

bra/hammock? Not sure what one is but my boobs feel sweaty just thinking about it.
I'm loving this for my 36HHs. I was so sick of the monoboob look when I was pregnant, so I couldn't wait to get back in an underwire (apparently ok as long as it fits properly).
It supports like a normal bra, even when its unhooked.
Only negative is that its nearly impossible to reclip one handed.

why do you need to hoist? I held my breast up when feeding ds1, it was a PITA. This time, I mentioned to a BF counsellor when I was pregnant that I had no idea how I would have enough hands to feed twins given that one hand would be under each breast, and she said why not just hold the baby(ies) at whatever level your nipple sits at naturally? amazingly, I'd never thought of that the whole time I was feeding ds1! could you try that? works a treat for us (am a floppy 36K, btw Blush)

What about this www.mumstuff.co.uk/acatalog/Utterly-Yours-Breast-Pillow.html
I tried it last time and it wasn't the revolution it promised to be, held breast up but then as they are big the nipple was too far away from my body to comfortably hold my baby in the right place! but maybe it would work for someone else.
This time I have bought the elomi bra mentioned already. I have high hopes but baby not here yet so havent tried feeding with it yet.

Agreed Mama, LO lying spread eagle on lap/pillow with nipple hanging straight down into her mouth is probably our favorite position.
(we are both so lazy)

I'd also wonder why you need to hold your breasts up. Maybe at first when you're doing cross-cradle and both learning but it's not practical long-term (I'm FF).

caseyjones · 20/02/2011 05:54

My midwife showed me how to make a cradle using a muslin square - basically just tie it around your neck in a loop and rest your boob in it - works for me!

Zipitydoda · 20/02/2011 19:25

Maybe it's just me but I don't like the feeling of my breast lying against my ... torso(?). I always wear a bra; put one on as soon as I wake up. Felt uncomfortable BF with boob lying in its natural position, hence keen to have boob support while feeding (g cup at mo but baby not here yet). I may well be weird!

CupcakesHay · 22/02/2011 10:30

Well - my midwife scared me saying i could end up with mastitis if i held boob, and sometimes I find it quite difficult to get DS into right position - but maybe it's could this is still new to me.

Also - find it difficult to see if he's latched on as I'm also cursed with lovely floppy boobs with nipple quite at bottom Blush so just wondered if a sling might help.

Plus, not sure how i fancy the whole breast feedsing in public thing if i have to kind of dangle boob in DS's mouth... again - might just be a confidence thing. And it's playing on my mind that i have lunch booked for brother's bday in few weekends time... so a bit apprehensive Hmm

I hold my boob up a bit with the flat of my hand, very careful not to press to hard and risk the blocked ducts your mw mentioned. If I am feeding fro the right boob I put the flat of my right hand on the top of my boob and just sort of press it up a bit to lift the nipple. I can then see DS latch and have my left hand to MN hold DS. I rest DS on a pillow at home, but sitting crossed legged on the floor is quite good too.

And you'll be greatful for the big floppy boobs when your LO gets big and heavy and you don't need to lift them to feed them - I see my small, pert-breasted friends trying to hold their LOs up and think they must be soooo jealous of my massive, pendulous knockers Grin Blush
