Help my 1 year old DS is still demanding to be fed in the night once or twice. I have been told that it is probably because he is not getting enough solids during the day but he eats like a horse! I try not to feed him and sometimes he settles again but most often than not he wont settle until he is fed (he only takes about 100-150mls a time). he then settles very quickly. on the rare occasion he sleeps thru until 5ish he is so desperate he is almost shaking for his feed??!!?? Could he still be so hungry in the night and therefore i continue or does anyone have any suggestions on how to wean off these night feeds? I am currently trying to change his day sleeps from one am one pm to a larger sleep around midday. He is a healthy, happy, little man, eats good food and is average size for age. I am happy to continue feeding him at night if this is what he needs but also would be good to get him sleeping thru the night! any suggestions??

At that age it is almost certainly just a habit.
If you stop feeding him he'll stop waking up.
I have a friend who's 18 month old was still waking in the night until a month ago. I've been telling her for months and months to just stop night feeds, but she was sure that he would explode or something. Anyway, at the end her tether she finally got into one of those sleep school things and guess what THEY told her!
Anyway, she stopped the night feeds and who'd of thunk it but her ds has been sleeping through since the second night!

Oh and focussing activity in the afternoon rather than the morning is also a big help I find.

Maybe you could start reducing the nightfeeds gradually, or watering them down, so he adjusts to taking those calories during the day?
