breast feeding and shift work - help!

DS2 is 10 months old and I'm going back to work in three weeks. He has never taken to bottles (had a few attempts) and I assumed as he'd be nearly 11 months when I returned to work it wouldn't matter as he could eat food and drink out of a cup. He is a good eater but drinks a maximum of 10 - 15mls a day of water or milk out of a cup (tommee tippee) or doidy cup. Much more interested in shaking the cup or taking a gulp then dribbling it out. DH will be looking after DS1 (2.5 years) and DS2 when I'm working and my shifts will be 12.5 hours, some day some nights. DS2 currently breastfeeds 6am, 10am, 3pm, 7pm, 10.30pm (approx). DH is worried about how he'll manage when I'm at work, and I'm worried DS will be dehydrated as he relies on BF for drinks. HELP! Sorry for long post, and I know it's a variation of hundreds of others. Should I leave EBM and DH keep offering bottle/cup??

I returned to work when DS2 was around that age and I do shift work like you. However, DS2 did take a bottle so it was easier.

However, you will probably find that your DS does take a bottle or cup more willingly when you are away - at the moment, he's probably thinking why should I drink that when I can bf? But if you are not there, he will have no choice..

I thought returning to work would be the end of bf for DS2 but we established a system quite easily - he had water/juice/cows milk when I was at work and as soon as I got home he would quite literally take my hand and lead me to my ikea chair where I always bf. I wouldnt worry about it - you will get your own rhythm/system going.
