2 Week Old Difficult to settle

I am b/f my 2 week old DD on demand and sometimes it's difficult to tell if she's crying because she's still hungry (even after cluster feeding) or if she's in pain. Generally she will continue to feed when offered, but then she is also sometimes sick and sometimes the milk trickles out of her nose(?).

How can I tell if she has colic or indigestion? She doesn't curl up her legs which I know is a common sign. Any suggestions for how to wind a baby in pain?

Also, on a separate issue, when she sneezes there is often blood mixed in with the mucus that comes out. I was told that this normal with c-section delivered babies - but I thought by now it would have cleared up...

Any advice or ideas would be most helpful. I b/f my DS for 10 months and never had any of these issues!

Thanks

If she continues to feed when offered, then she is prob crying because she does not want to be separated from you...perfectly normal in a young baby :) Breastfeeding is so much more than a 'hunger satisfier'.

It's also very common to be sick and for milk to trickle out the nose. All the 'tubes' are connected - if you have ever sneezed or burst out laughing when you have been drinking something, you must have had the same experience (beer/coffee/tea/pop exiting the nose as well as the mouth!).

I don't know about the blood coming out when she sneezes and links with C-section, sorry. Ask the HV?

I found DD hard to wind when she was really little. Things that helped were sitting her upright and moving her body in a figure of 8 then back patting. Also sometimes lying her on her front and patting her back worked too. I find it soul destroying when they yak up all the milk!

yes sorry to say you're thier puppet and they're pulling the strings till they're about 6 weeks old. i had a child with colic, seem to remember i cottoned on to the fact i wasn't doing him any favours by constantly feeding him, but 2 weeks is a bit too early to start rationing to every 4 hours or so as i did with him. swaddling, snuggling, putting in the sling and getting on with stuff, pram walks, drives, leaving the room if you get stressed....it won't last it will get better!

my ds fed/was sucking for comfort at that age. I think he use to suck for comfort but milk came out too and when his mouth was full he's spit it out!
