What bottles for windy reflux?

My daughter is 15 weeks old and she brings back a lot of wind and baby-sick.

She was bringing back anything up to 1/3 to 1/2 of her bottle in one go, projectile style, so the HV suggested we put her on stay-down milk, which has helped.

I always knew there were anti-colic bottles but it wasn't colic that was the problem it was wind/reflux. I was flicking through the Boots catalog/magazine thing and saw that certain types of bottles are engineered with wind in mind.

I was looking at Dr Browns mainly but they are expensive. I couldn't find product reviews for bottles in the reviews bit so I thought I'd ask you ladies...

Are Dr Browns any good for a windy sicky baby? Are they any better than the standard Tommy Tippee bottles I already use? If there is some other kind of bottle I should consider what is it?

I use MAM anti colic ones on ds who has reflux and can be VERY windy Grin. They have air holes in the bottle and a rubber ring inside, not quite sure what the science is but they made a big difference.

Tommee Tippee also do anti colic ones which are very similar to dr browns but a lot cheaper if you want that type. I have heard they are very good.

Tbh it is trial and error, what works for one baby with wind/colic wont necessarily work for another.
I would suggest buying 1 or 2 of a few brands and trying them before you buy loads.
I wish I had done this, I bought 5 different lots and spent A FORTUNE Angry before I found the MAM ones he was happy with.
Good luck!

Drat. The NUK and Mam ones mentioned do not do a vari-flow type teat. This is a problem because the special milk is very thick, too thick for normal little holes in other teats. (Using faster flow rates doesn't work either because the holes are the same size, there's just more of them). Those Mam ones can self-sterilise and everything, I was rather love-struck there for a bit!

So far I have found that Tommee Tippee, Avent and Dr Browns make anti-colic bottles which can be fitted with vari-flow teats. Any one know of another?

I think I might do what happylittlebear suggested and get one of each potential winner and test them on my baby herself.

They are a bit brilliant underachieving, they are so fancy :)

If its any help re the milk ds is on aptamil comfort which is thicker than normal milk and i use the size 2 mam teats which work fine for it.
At one point he was also on gaviscon in his milk and it was like wallpaper paste it was so thick but a size 3 teat worked great with it.
But then i dont know about staydown milk tho....

i used the MAM ones first time round and they are good, but quite a pain to clean as they have so many bits to take apart. The Nuk ones coped well with thicker milk for us, think the natural shape of both is good. Its possible I have my Nuk ones i could send you if you want?

"Its possible I have my Nuk ones I could send you if you want?"

That would be lovely and really very helpful. Thank you very much. I presume I would now send you my address and paypal you some postage? Although I'm not sure of protocol so please forgive me if I just got that wrong.
