Very loud gurgling tummy and high pitched screaming in BF 11 day old

My DD2 is a little boob monster and has put on 60z since birth. She is very efficient and can empty a boob in 15 minutes, my DD1 used to take an hour or so at this age. I realise I am probably lactating more efficiently this time round and that all babies are different so not too surprised at this.

However, over the past few days we have had episodes where she is generally fussy at the breast and is whimpering. I take her off immediately and burp her but little or nothing comes up. She rarely possets. I can hear her tummy or bowels gurgling terribly loudly and sometimes these gurgles are accompanied with her whimpering or a pained expression. We then have a period of sustained high pitched crying where she is obviously in pain. She doesn't do many burps or trumps at all.

I massage her tummy, cycle her legs, let her suckle more if she wants but wonder if there is anything else I can do? Is this colic? She is worse in the evening but also has periods throughout the day.

My DD1 (2) gets very distressed by her crying so if it is in the middle of the night I end up with a pained newborn and an upset 2 year old in my room.

It's horrible seeing her in pain. Any advice?

Could be silent reflux. Or reaction to dairy/soya in your diet - which my DS has.

Or could be an overactive letdown so your milk is coming out very fast and she takes in a lot of air in her tummy. Can you feed her so she's more upright and wind her for about twenty minutes by holding her to you and rubbing not patting. Also pop her in a bouncy chair after a feed, not flat as more comfy if she has wind. I also found block feeding helped - so use one side per feed. If you do already then swap sides every other feed so she's not taking in too much watery foremilk?

If that doesn't work then speak to your GP about reflux meds.

Thx. I am feeding sitting up and trying to hold her more vertically. I'll try winding for longer as I usually just give it a few minutes.

I've got my wrap sling and chair out of the loft so will try to keep her upright more during the day.
