Night Formula Feed Advice Needed Please

My lovely 12 week old son is 50/50 bf/ff.
I discovered when he was 7 weeks old that bf at night woke him up, encouraged co-sleeping and was exhausting me utterly!
My older daughter was ebf till 6months and then wouldn't take any kind of bottle or cup so I had a nightmare weaning her finally at 12 months.
Determined not to make the same mistake I was relaxed about mixing bf and ff to suit both my son and myself!
So far we've used Aptimil cartons, but now he's hit 12 weeks his appetite is growing massively and he can easily do 7oz in one feed. This is VERY expensive!!
So I want to switch to powder formula for his night feed; which can be any time from 3.30am - 5.45am. He dream feeds at 11.15pm very well.
Problem is, the powders need to be mixed up using freshly boiled water cooled for 25minutes, then mixed with the powder, then cooled....... all in all about 45minutes mucking around in a freezing cold kitchen.
It says on all the formulas that they have to be thrown away after 2hrs of being mixed....does this include if its kept in a sterile lidded bottle in the fridge?
Any tips much appreciated!

You can make the powder up with hot water, cool quickly and store in the fridge. Just make sure you make it up with 70c water - a litre of boiling water left for 25 mins is 70c.

And can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours. It has to be used within 2 hours if it's not in fridge. Overnight, I usually just pop downstairs and microwave a bottle just to take chill off (not recommended I know). I've never found it a problem.

I used a Thermos flask to store the water and did the mix as required. worked a treat.
Now I put the boiled water in the sterilised bottles and add the formula when needed. That's if your DS does not mind his bottles at room temperature. The good thing I found is that it is very quick and DS can be fed as soon as he starts yelping.

Thank you all so much :)

It's funny how they don't tell you this on the containers!!?
"Any formula unused within 2 hrs should be thrown away"

Good way to sell lots of formula!!

Elsie if you do it that way you have to make sure the powder goes into hot (70c) water.

Celestinelass I was using Aptimil cartons but have now switched to SMA - the Aptimil suddenly went up from about 57p to 66p! SMA is I think 52p for a 250ml carton and ds hasn't noticed the difference. I think formula is all basically the same anyway, it's just the marketing that's different.

Somewhere online are the world health organisation guidelines on making up and storing formula and the reasons for what they advise - someone has linked on here before- not sure where but you could google.

The Food Standards Agency issue advice too - probably on their website.
