Avent bottles, strong chemical/plastic smell when heated

Hi all

Im new to this, Ive been combination feeding for a week now, and was recomended to use the Avent anti-colic bottles as the teats are most like mums, so as to help continue breast feeding. I steralized the Avent bottles in a microwave steralizer according to instructions and there is a really strong plastic/chemical smell coming from them. I have washed/boiled and re-steralized, but I can still smell it! Has any one else had this problem???
I have been using the same steralizer for my Boots bottles with no problem at all.

Thanks
Mandy

is the plastic still intact? are there any warped bits on the bottle (just thinking the steralizer might have been too hot for them)?

We used to use Avent and never encountered that kind of smell.

I used Avent and a microwave steriliser too, no probs. Are the bottles very old? cracked?broken?

Thanks, they are new bottles i bought two days ago, no sign of cracks or damage. I have also tried boiling them, and using a steam steraliser today and they still have the smell! Maybe the microwave was too hot for them, I followed timing instructions though. I will try getting a new bottle and just steam steralise it, see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for your help. :)
