Hello,

I wondered whether you have any advice on what I should do.

I have stopped feeding my 10 month old daughter (I feel the time's right), and have gradually reduced her feeds down to one a day (a 24 hour period) over a few weeks.

I have now been 2 full days and nights without feeding her, and my boobs feel sooo full I'm not sure whether I ought to feed my daughter to ease them a bit.

I'm a bit worried about blocked ducts, but at the same time, don't want to keep stimulating the supply!

I don't remember having this difficulty with my son, who I weaned at 11 months.

So - shall I sit it out and wait for them to subside, or shall I feed every couple of days to ease the pressure, then gradually ease it out to every few days, til they've gone down?

Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks

I'd ring one of the helplines. They should be able to give you information on how to stop without giving yourself mastitis Smile

I remember having this (I stopped cold turkey at 14 months) and it passed after about a week. I can't remember if I tried expressing to ease the pressure. If you have decided to stop BF, then I'd say don't feed your daughter again.

I did then have a few lumps over the following months with leftover milk deposits, which were checked out and drained at hospital, but if you get any make sure you get them checked out and treated, just in case.

But yes, go and seek some proper advice!
