Mould in steriliser - ok to use??

I have a tommee tippee steam steriliser. Used once to try it out a few weeks ago. Just gone to use again and noticed I must have forgotten to remove the water as there was a sludgy mouldy stuff inside.
Have wiped it all out with a damp cloth and put all removable components through dishwasher. Put through a sterilising cycle but bit worried that hidden mould under the heating plate could be a health risk. Any advice???

Thank you

i don't know the answer, it sounds worrying but you could contact the tommee tippee support people (details on their website). i found them to be quite helpful. in the meantime use liquid sterlisation such as miltons if you need to.

I would use milton cold water steriliser to sterilise the steriliser, then run a few steam cycles (with water, not milton!) to really make sure. Surely that'd kill off any nasties?
