But doesn't see it as food. Likes the fact it sometimes gives her milk but not taking it as food. Any suggestions?

She even asked for it this am when she saw me get it out but chewed/ sucked/ milk dribbled down her chin but didn't swallow much!

Are you perhaps giving her slightly to much milk so that shes not hungry by the time you offer the next feed? How much and often are you feeding her?

nymphadora · 25/01/2011 21:27

It's about 1-2 oz in a bottle prior to next breastfeed(as in just before she is due but before she starts shouting IYSWIM)

Right, so your combine feeding then?

Has she ever taken a bottle well? I am thinking possible nipple (or in this case teat!!) confusion?

OR, does she actually need the 1/2oz bottle top up, if she is messing reather then feeding?

(Sorrym that post sounds quite agressive, I am just putting ideas about whilst wathing telly!)

nymphadora · 25/01/2011 21:47

No trying to get her to take a bottle for when I'm not around. Shes currently reverting to 2 hour gaps between long feeds & I'm supposed to be at a meeting on Monday which is 2 hours + travel so could do with her taking something.

She sucks the teat & chews it but is happy just to play & the milk is an extra bonus.

Not taken a bottle beyond this

What bottle are you using? that may have a big impact. Do a search on bottle refusing as I can't offer any experience in this area :)

nymphadora · 25/01/2011 22:29

It's a breast flow one. She can get milk out but doesn't seem to be bothered about it

Should I keep trying every day? Or give her a break & abandon mondays meeting?

nymph hadn't realised you were mix feeding. Neither of mine would take a bottle. You could give water and food during you Monday's meeting or have you tried a cup?

This might help, or there is a leaflet here.

nymphadora · 26/01/2011 10:56

Not mixed. Ebf except I need her to feed in some form for me to leave her. Doing 2 hourly feeds this week so won't be able to go on mon unless she will take something. Debated taking her but it's no good if she wants to play!

Sorry, was mixed up. Yes at 16 weeks you can't really leave her with food can you.

Have you spoken to a Bfing Counsellor about this? They might have some tips for you Smile

nymphadora · 06/02/2011 19:33

Bumping this cos we still aren't getting anywhere & she is still on growth spurt although slightly shorter feeds now!
