Help! DS just took 10ml from a 70ml bottle of EBM for the first time. Can I regive remained in bottle later, or tomorrow? Or can I freeze the remainder for move to solids or whatver. If I freeze can I just put into ice cube tray or would I need to sterilise tray first. Many thanks

All I know (from kelly.com) is that you can put it in the fridge and use it later (up to 4 hrs). I don't think you can do anything else with it as bacteria from his mouth can travel into the bottle. It's best to offer smaller amounts - as I've learned from having to throw away precious EBM because my DD hates the bottle!

Sorry, kellymom.com

Thank you, won't give him as much to reject next time! And will try again within four hours.

www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/reusing-expressedmilk.html Maybe you don't have to refridgerate it, but it might be better to do so?!!

I wouldnt use it after 1 hour....

milk is a breeding ground for germs. Formaular bottles should be chucked after an hour and on the same grounds i would chuck expressed breast milk too.

breastmilk has anti-bac properties though i believe, so don't treat the same as formula.

breastmilk is OK at room temp for up to 6 hours, formula is only good for 1 hour. I think if its been heated, better to discard EBM after 2 hours though.
