Sleepy new baby

DS3 is 3 days old. His first 24hrs were spent feeding occasionally, and lots of sleeping.
Next 24 hrs, pretty much a feeding frenzy. My milk has now come in, and all he wants to do is sleep.

He's slightly jaundiced, so I'm worried that if I can't wake him to feed, it's not going to clear up, but I can't keep him awake.
He had a short feed about an hour ago, following a two - three hour sleep.

What, if anything, should I be doing?
TIA

Oh I remember it well! I seem to remember they said not to let a jaundiced baby go more than 4 hrs without fluid and to keep them by the natural light too. Even if he is only taking a short feed I guess if he even takes in a little fluid every 3-4 hours he will be fine. Always takes a while to get the routine going, dont worry

Thankyou :)
Awake and feeding again now!

Just keep him really close to you faverolles that way you can see the first signs of hunger and give him some milk.

Some skin to skin would be great too.

Have you seen a mw?

faverolles if he fed at 3 and again at half 4 he should be ok Smile.

Like Crikey says, you could always talk to your MW if you are worried.

He doesn't have a chance to squeak at the moment without having a boob thrust at him :o
MW was here this morning, and coming again tomorrow.

Hello,

Sure you already know this as he is your third DS. But when I was feeding my jaundiced baby I was advised to do a full nappy change (or even 2, one between boobs) at every feed to fully wake DD, feed her in in her nappy so she didn't get warm and nod off, tickle her feet, blow on her face and even drip cold water on her head! Good luck, sure he'll be fine!
