I can't make out a word he's saying Confused

RubyBuckleberry · 19/01/2011 13:06

lol oh no! he's pretending to be a CEO/MD of Nastie (Nestle)... that's probably pretty obvious, sorry!

Oh yes, I got the message :) I just found it really hard to understand with all the background noise, I found that with the last baby milk action video I saw as well.

I think it's a shame as it's an important message, I don't understand why they don't just film it with a decent microphone, or not next to a street filled with traffic! TBH if I didn't know who BMA were and someone showed me the video I'd have turned it off pretty quickly.

theratpack · 19/01/2011 13:57

DONE Wink

RubyBuckleberry · 19/01/2011 17:18

i got an email from BMA with this message in it:

Take a minute to help stop Nestle's latest baby milk marketing scam.
info.babymilkaction.org/emailnestle

You probably know about the Nestle boycott and the way Nestle pushes its baby milk around the world.

Nestle's latest global strategy is to promote its baby milk with the claim that it 'protects' babies, even though it knows babies fed on it are more likely to become sick than breastfed babies and, in conditions of poverty, more likely to die. Nestle is claiming its baby milk aids brain and eye development and supports the immune system. It has added prominent, colourful logos to product labels in 120 countries, undermining the obligatory 'breastfeeding is best for babies' warnings that the boycott campaign helped to bring in. Nestle is also targeting health workers to promote its claims.

Nestle's claims do not stand up to scrutiny and break the international marketing standards introduced by the World Health Assembly.

According to UNICEF: "Improved breastfeeding practices and reduction of artificial feeding could save an estimated 1.5 million children a year". As UNICEF, the World Health Organisation, governments and health campaigners try to spread the message that breastfeeding protects babies, Nestle is using its massive resources to try to convince mothers and health workers that its baby milk 'protects'.

After receiving thousands of emails, Nestlé has said it has discontinued a leaflet that claimed its formula is 'The new "Gold Standard" in infant nutrition', exposed by the campaign. More pressure is need to persuade it to drop its other misleading marketing strategies.

Fink · 19/01/2011 20:47

You're not alone, MissBubbles, I've been boycotting them since I was 13 and I almost always have to explain it to people - I reckon most people in RL (possibly outside nice leafy areas of cities) haven't heard of it. So, let's spread the word! Grin

MissBubbles · 19/01/2011 20:57

i have to admit i did ff both my dc's but not with a nestle product, i used sma with ds and then farleys with dd, to be honest i didnt even know nestle did baby formula till mumsnet lol i just always thought it was chocbars and drinks, see this is why i need to wear my glasses more often :)

Fink · 22/01/2011 09:48

Nestle's name sometimes isn't even printed on the packaging of all the companies they have bought out/own major shares in but they have got their claws into so many things you wouldn't think of, e.g. cosmetics, mineral water, pet food...

Baby Milk Action regularly update their boycott list

RubyBuckleberry · 22/01/2011 13:03

Thanks for that Fink. I am Shocked.
