Anyone used Playtex bottles?

I was recommended to use Playtex bottles. Don't know much about them. Had a look at their website and it looks all good. Just wondering if anyone has experience of using them. Are their any other alternatives with similar functions?

Many thanks for reading this.

I use them and they are great ! I started on Dr Browns and then a friend told me about them... The ease of sterilsing and the ease of my little girl taking to them was great. I would never use anything else now if I had another baby... Give them a go !

mondays, do you mean the ones with the disposable bags or the other ones which are like normal bottles?

mondays · 24/01/2011 04:26

Cstone - Great to hear the positive comment. Buy the way, how do you sterlising them?

Chipmonkey - As I would like to BF, the disposable option is favourable. But open to suggestion about the other one. Have you used the normal type? The person recommended me only used ones with disposable bags. This is my first baby so still learning. Not even sure how many bottles I need to buy Confused

If you are planning to bf you don't need to buy any bottles now. In the early weeks you and baby will need to focus on learning to bf and giving a bottle of ebm at that stage can cause nipple confusion for your DC. Once your supply is established and the 2 of you have found your feet you'll have a better idea of how often you'll want to use ebm and how many bottles you'll need.

monday, I got the disposable ones because they were the only bottles ds3 would drink from! He was bf and as I needed to go back to work needed to find something he would drink from.
I have to say, as bottles go, they were very easy to use and when on hols they were brilliant as I had a very small steam steriliser and was able to fit the breast pump parts and the teats and lids and no bulky bottle.

The downside was that they were expensive as you had to keep buying the liners, also I'm in Ireland and nobody stocked them so I had to order them from the US. IIRC I could have ordered from the UK but it was actually cheaper from the US[Hmm

Also I really didn't like the fact that they were disposable as I am a bit of an eco-warrior and was the only person I knew who was using disposable bottles and re-usable nappies!Grin

I think the reason they are recommended is that the teats are very close to the shape of a breast and the latex version is nice and soft so bf babies find it easier to make the transition and "nipple confusion" is less likely. Originally ds3 had the Avent bottles and hated them even though ds1 and ds2 had no problem with them.

Mummyberryjuice - I know what you are saying. Though I will have to plan for getting back to work and leave the baby with someone else. All advices are welcome!

Chipmonkey - Glad to hear that you find them good. I think it makes a lot of sense for me to get disposables as i intend to BF as much as poss. And I will be going back to work too. Checked the prices of bottles and the rest and yes! they don't come cheap. Luckily a friend of mine suggested he could get them while he goes to US for his business trip. How many bottles of different sizes are you using?

Sorry mondays, should have said my youngest is now 2 so no bottle any more!Grin

I had four bottles, as some days I work 12 hour, generally used 3 and had one spare just in case!

They are waaaaaay cheaper in the US!
