HELP WITH NIPPLE SHILEDS

I have had to resort to nipple shields for a while as my boobs are so sorely. I think my soreness was caused by a bout of thrush in my DD's mouth making her not latch on correctly. We are currently treating ourselves for it ... does anyone have any tips on how to make them stick? My DD has quite a powerful suck and i have to try and hold them on whilst she feeds which is proving quite difficult. I have tried putting some of my Lansinoh cream around the rim but i still have to hold them on. They are Boots own brand ones ... are there others that are better?
Any advice would be much appreciated. Also i am worried that when i stop using them i will get sore again as she may suck harder and differently. Any tips as i don't want to become reliant on them?

I usd medela and avent silicone shields and once dd was sucking they weren't going anywhere, your nipple gets sucked into baby's vacuum.I can't imagine having to hold shields on during a whole feed, they must be either crap, or wrong size, or something not quite right...

I think I read on the medela instrusctions you sort of turn them half inside out first and pop them on and turn them back again so that it creates a little suction?

I use medela contact shields occasionally and if they're on right, they stay put fine and shouldn't move.

Make sure you work on the latch - ie. getting your LOs mouth well open with tongue down before putting her on and checking her chin is well in.

Thrush causes really sore boobs and nipples fwiw, not necessarily anything to do with latch.

I've used the Avent shields which are similar to the Boots ones but found the medela ones much better - they were easier to turn inside out and 'stuck' better. They also seemed slightly thinner silicone so bubba preferred them as well.

Tesco do the medela ones. The instructions on those also say to wet them before you put them on so that might help with the Boots ones as well.

I think the reason they come off so easily is that she pulls off so frequently and doesn't open her mouth wide enough ... any other tips to make them stick?

Try wetting them, turning them as far inside out as you can and then put a finger over the holes as you pop it on IYSWIM - that creates a bit of suction before LO latches on and might help.

Someone with better advice will probably be along shortly :)
