I had the flu vac (combined) 2 days ago, am 39 weeks pg, so the newborn should get immunity from me.

I'm wondering about DD though, she's 3.5, she has between 0 and 3 feeds a day still, atm she's just getting a little colostrum, but there'll be milk again once the baby arrives, will she get any protection or is she not feeding enough for it to protect her?

I asked the nurse but she didn't know/thought I was mad to still be feeding DD...

Actually found a facinating article yesterday which looks at the natural age at which we might wean off breast if it weren't for societies views. All based on chimpanzee research which share 98% of our genetics.

www.kathydettwyler.org/detwean.html

It suggests between 2.5 and 7 years might be natural and that human immune system still developing until 6 years. Although actual research on benefits over the age of 2 has not been researched.

If you're happy and she's happy, can't be a bad thing.

absolutely, I have no worries about whether I should be feeding her or not, We'll keep going for a while yet if that's what wants, I just wondered if irregular toddler feeding was enough to offer immunity from flu via the vaccine I had...
