Only feeding from one breast at each feed?

Just a quicky: does anyone else only feed their LO from one side at each feed?
My little monster feeds happily from one side, never seems to empty it, so I don't see the point of trying him on the other side? Or is that just me being lazy Hmm He's 15 weeks by the way...

My dd is 20 weeks and is the same, has never had both boobs and has consistently put on weight, I think we worry to much on getting it text book, she has always only fed for a max of ten mins too, I guess that's breastfeeding for you, the baby regulates it all, trust in your baby ia all you can do x

I do this - for two feeds actually - because I have trouble with oversupply. It's not the best way of stimulating a great milk supply but if you've got to this stage no problems it sounds like you've probably got a good enough supply that feeding both sides isn't necessary. You can always move to switch feeding if your baby seems to be hungry.

My DD is eight months old and has only recently started taking both sides at some feeds. Even then I don't think it's to do with quantity if milk. I think she just likes the faster let down at the start and instead of 'finishing' the first boob she demands the other side.

If your LO is putting on weight etc then don't worry about it. I agree that we can all get too hung up on what the books say. I think we should all just try to trust our babies to take what they need.

I've done this since DD was about 4 weeks old. It helped with her reflux quite a bit as too much of the fast watery stuff made her more sickly. She seems to prefer the gold top.Grin
The only problem I had was when she dropped an overnight feed, I'd feel like one side was about to explode mid morning and was desparate to feed her again!

I've got twins so they only get one each Grin

DD only ever had one side and put on about 1lb a week for the first few weeks and shot from 50th centile to off the charts and stayed ther. If your baby is content and weeing/pooing/growing it's probably fine. You could offer the second side if you wanted to make sure. Your breasts are never empty btw, they constantly make milk.
