Is it only mastitis if you have a temperature?

I ask because I have a red patch by the left nipple and pain particularly when latching on. But no temperature so is it "just" a blocked duct? I had mastitis last time I had a baby and had the full on flu type hell as well as painful boob. Just want to know if I should be going for abs if I don't have a temp. It's ds's fourth birthday on sat and I have a party to prepare in the house so can't be ill before or for it!

Thanks for any advice.

Yes you need a temp to define it as Mastitis. Feed, feed, feed off the blocked one, warm compresses, massage towards the nipple, feed with baby's chin towards the blockage and take ibuprofen to deal with the pain and inflammation. HTH

Ditto to the above. I've just had this. The breast nurse gel pads are great for warm and cool compresses fwiw.

I have found ibuprofen gel much better than ibuprofen pills.
