Does the WHO weight chart take account of ethnicity? (ebf baby)

DS is ebf and has dropped from the 25th centile at birth to the 2nd at 9 weeks. HV is not concerned as he is gaining weight and I am happy that he's just a little chap (apart from his massive head that's on 91st centile!)
I was just wondering whether ethnicity plays a part in size and growth rates or is it irrelevant?(DS is half Japanese).
I assume the WHO data was taken worldwide?

I thought it was but I'm not trained and can't be sure.

If he's gaining weight and producing enough wet and dirty nappies, I'd be happy enough not to be concerned.

The charts and the accompanying research reveal no need to take into account ethnicity.

Babies grow at the same rate across the ethnic groups - they may start small because of ethnicity but their growth rate is the same as any other baby who starts small.

This is rock solid research - the data for the charts was collected across many different groups.

As with any baby, a fall from the 25th to the 2nd is usually of no concern in a healthy thriving baby.

Thank you, that's very interesting. It makes sense that while starting sizes might be different the growth rate would be the same.

Of course I should have said in 1st post that ds is half Japanese and half white British. Apols if I sounded ignorant Blush
