Underwired feeding bras

I am due to go into hospital to have DS2 in about 6 weeks via csection & was wondering what clothing is necessary for breast feeding ie: night gowns, bras, clothes etc etc. I didnt breastfeed DS1 so just made do with my pregnancy bras & a nightdress in a bigger size. I would like any recommendations for nightdresses that you can feed with visitors around (I will be in for atleast 4 days so there will be lots of them).
Thanks

I got cheap big size nighties from the market with buttons down the front. Like these but cheaper . Have a look in mothercare or some where and try them on, see what you are comfortable with. Get your boobs out in the changing room .

Feeding bras can be easier to undo then normal ones but a lot of people don't bother with them. Best to wait until out of hospital to get feeding bras anyway as your size can change a lot.

Any top will do really just lift it up and use a blanket or shawl to cover midriff.

You will find it easier to feed with baby on a cushion to take pressure of you scar. I like my V cushion and used it for sleeping too. Like Argos pg 417 . \link{http://www.bupa-shop.co.uk/index.cfm?articleid=1111\Better pic.

I got my nighties and PJ's from Primark. They had loads with buttons down the front which were great for bfing, and really cheap too! Any PJ's will do the job, bf PJ's were a waste of money IMO.

Wouldn't have been without my bf bras though, but don't get too many until your boobs have settled down after the birth (they get lots bigger initally, and then settle down after a week or two.

The bf cushion is great if you have a c-section. It also helps to prop the baby if you are feeding laying down. Take it into the hospital and get the mw's to help you the positioning.

Did you have a c/s last time? There are some great threads on items to take into hosp if you are having a c/s that are really helpful.

Good luck

Just looked at ScarySkribble's link for a bf cusion. Mine was different to that. It was a long one from bumptothree (makers of grobag).

I don't think underwires are recommended as they can interfere with your milk production and the drainage of the milk ducts. It's been a while, but I think this is right. If you don't drain the whole breast you can end up with blocked ducts and mastitis.

Anita do a nursing bra which they call "underwired" but it's not really - does have extra support though where underwires would usually be. It's very comfy.

The underwired thing is mad! I wore underwired throughout the whole of my pregnancy - no-one had a problem with it apart from the lady in M&S who refused to measure me for an underwired bra.

Midwife said the most important thing was making sure your bra was comfortable - underwired or not!

I've never had a problem with wearing underwire either and I find the prospect of wearing "boulder holders" this time round utterly depressing.

I've just brought one of these underwired nursing bras from Ebay.
