Increasing supply - slightly odd one - Help!

Am feeding DS (2.4), and need to increase supply (am donating milk) see my earlier thread here. The people involved haven't confirmed they're taking up the offer, as they want to discuss it with their doctor, but will do so if the doctor agrees.

Before I offered to donate, I tried pumping and was able to get some milk - wasn't much but I figured I'd be able to increase it relatively easily (DS feeds between 1-3 times a day). However, I started pumping about a week ago and am getting nothing. Barely a drop. In 6 - 10 pumping sessions a day, I'm getting nothing. I've tried everything I know to try and increase my supply (and had a few supply issues when I went back to work when DS was 6mo) - nada.

I've read a lot about domperidone - I considered it when I went back to work and my supply tanked, but was able to get my supply back up without it (pumping c30oz a day). Would it work in my case now? And if it would, has anyone got any bright ideas about how to go about trying to convince a doctor to prescribe it?

Any help / opinions welcomed.

There is a herbal supplement called fenugeek (possibly spelt wrong) but as I understand it you are supposed to take it after advice from a Doc. Have you tried phoning the NCT B/F line? They may have some ideas

Thanks for your reply. I've been taking fenugreek and haven't noticed much difference, and have tried just about all of the normal methods for increasing supply that I know of. The idea for domperidone came from a friend of mine who is a La Leche Leauge leader in the US.

I suppose I'm really after whether domperidone, at this point in my nursing life, would make a difference, or whether I'm just doomed to failure and my supply is gone.

Any ideas anyone?

No idea about domperidone, and you have probably tried this but I find that expressing success is very much dependent on my state of mind, if I can pump and feed at the same time it is best. If not I have to be able to visualise ds feeding, otherwise I get nothing at all. I also find that a manual pump or even hand expressing is easier than my electric pump. HTH.
