Making formula feeds for long car journey

We'll be taking 4 month old DS on a long car journey next week (going home for xmas). I'm not sure how best to make up his formula feeds for the car journey.

I have 2 Tommee Tippee bottle carriers that say they keep bottles hot/cold but I'm not sure for how long as there were no instructions in the pack. I would need them to keep bottles cool for up to 10 hours. If this isn't realistic, how else can I transport feeds? Maybe I should buy a thermos and put boiled water in (do I need to let it cool for 30mins) then make up feeds in the car? Or maybe just use bottled water this once (we are in Belgium so DS will have bottles made by cold bottled water once he goes to creche as is standard here anyway).

How have other people got around this problem? Thank for any advice!

I would take ready made cartons and discard any unused at the end of each feed

you would need quite a few clean bottles too

For that length of time i would use cartons also.

Sorry - forgot to say...ready made cartons not available here Sad

oh bloody hell, that is not helpful

any chance your relatives could post you some quick-sharp?

assuming you can't get cartons:

take hot water in a flask and use this to make up formula use half the amount of water needed and then add cold water to make up to total volume and chill. i personally would take water as hot as possible and if still too hot when the time for the feed arrived use some cold water to reduce temp.

ahhh. thats is helpful then!

I think you will have to take a thermos of hot water with you and make the bottles up when you need them. I wouldnt let it cool before putting it in the thermos either as it will gradually lose heat over time. once the powder is dissolved you can top it up to the required levels with cold water so your LO can drink it straight away.

Will there be any rest stops along the way where you could refill it with proper boiling water?
