Anyone recommend some breast pads?

Going through tonnes & haven't found any I find work properly yet.
First lot I had from boots were pink/plasticky on one side which made it easy to straighten back out after feeding. Now boots ones feel& look same on both sides and had some different ones which come in extra wrappers which seems a waste.
Have washable ones too but can't keep up with them!

I always liked the Tommy Tippee ones.

AbiAbi · 28/11/2010 14:35

I like the Johnsons ones, as they're slightly shaped.

Nettee · 28/11/2010 14:37

tommee tippee, lansinoh and heavenly (if they still make them - 3 years since I needed any now). These are the ones with the fluid absorbing crystals in (like they have in disposable nappies)

babyrose · 28/11/2010 14:38

i like johnsons ones aswell, very comfy

flingingflangin · 28/11/2010 14:41

Another for Johnsons or Lanisoh. I liked Lanisoh the best.

CherryPie3 · 28/11/2010 14:42

I found the pink boots ones to be the comfiest ones, I liked the lansinoh ones too xx

nymphadora · 28/11/2010 15:05

Lanisoh come in packets too don't they? Have only had samples of them.
Ones I have at the moment have the gel stuff, it's like wearing a gel bra after a feed Blush

Johnsons
Shaped and thick

TottWriter · 28/11/2010 16:25

I have three packs worth of the Avent reuseable ones, and a couple of packs of boots reuseable. About five packs in total which means I usually have enough to cycle.

It's a bit pricey to start, but then you aren't buying any more, and the avent ones dry out quickly. Also, after a few months you don't have quite such a surplus, so reuseables become much more convenient. Avent disposables are quite good too, but a tad pricey.

DrewsGirl · 28/11/2010 17:13

I used the johnsons ones while i was pregnant and just eaking a bit every day they did the job and were comfy because of the shape. Once i had my son though they werent absorbant enough and i was leaking through in an hour or so, i use tome tippe now they are bigger and dont need changing so often.

Bicnod · 28/11/2010 17:19

lansinoh and tommy tippee were my favourites

mungojerrie · 28/11/2010 17:28

Johnsons - definitely. When I tried some of the others I couldn't believe how crinkly and itchy they were. The Johnsons ones are soft and barely noticeable.

Antidote · 28/11/2010 17:32

I thought the Johnsons ones were rubbish when I used them in week 4, not absorbent enough.

I am using a combo of lilypadz (expensive but lovely and kind on the sore nippes) and advent reusables to cope with leaks. Still having leak issues, but hoping things will cam down in a few weeks.

flingingflangin · 28/11/2010 18:03

I knackered my washing machine with Avent ones got stuck in the pipe thing, but they were good on my boobs at any rate! A bag would solve that problem! Does anyone use breast shells anymore!?

FreudianFoxSquishedByAPouffe · 28/11/2010 18:06

I used boots washable ones (had 2 packs iirc) they are great. I hated all disposable ones.

But yeah... Wash them in the little bag or your washing machine won't be happy!

Blush
Iwasthefourthwiseman · 28/11/2010 19:27

I don't think the plastic backed ones are meant to be very good for you. Mothercare ones all crap. I'm getting on fine with Sainbo's own atm.

HelenLG · 28/11/2010 19:29

Lansinoh or Tommy tippee, I have big nipples and find the others arent big enough...

Teaandchristmascakeplease · 28/11/2010 19:36

Another vote for tommee tippee. I had to go to a supermarket further from me to buy them, as my local one didn't stock them and all other types I tried weren't very good.

lovechoc · 28/11/2010 19:41

Tesco - have tried all the rest but none are as good as these.

aendr · 28/11/2010 20:27

The Ameda washables are great - and they also keep the nipples warm in cold weather (I find cold nipples painful)

MayDayChild · 28/11/2010 20:31

Tommy tippe are cheapest brand, and I won't use anything else. I tried boots but took them back and changed them for TT as they itched and scratched. Horrible.
I am finally down to one set day and one night, he's 5 months old!

SUMARIE · 28/11/2010 22:57

6mos of bfeeding...I leak a lot and often ( will overflow breast shells) and tried: boots, johnson's, tommee tippee, avent and reusable washables. the only one that rarely leaks is Lansinoh. Also noticed johnson's left odd gel beads on my breast - what is that about?!?

fungusmungus · 28/11/2010 22:59

tommee tippee gets my vote! tesco's often sell them on a 'special'...
