Could BFing prevent chicken pox?

DD has suspected chicken pox (not confirmed yet, but it's going round so it's very possible)

DS who is 15m is a bit spotty though hard to tell because he's got eczema, and it got me wondering if they'd be able to confirm it at all - could it just be really
mild?

I'm also still BFing him, more so than usual as he's been snotty and not eating much - so I was wondering could the antibodies in breastmilk have reduced/prevented symptoms? Or is that not possible with this type of illness?

Any ideas?

It might it might not. DNiece had chicken pox at 4 months and was EBF. But it was very mild, just maybe 10-15 spots in total and she so far hasn't had it again (now 6) although my sister was warned at the time that she wouldn't necessarily be immune due to having it so young.

Agree with MumNWL.

My dd2 caught chicken pox when I was bfing her, she was 16 months. But my ds aged two, also bf at present, did not catch it, despite there being an outbreak in his creche which he was attending full time.

DS1 had chicken pox at c4 months and was EBF. It was diagnosed by a Dr and was really mild, which I was told was because I was BF. A word of warning though-he did get it again, later that year, although again really mildly, even though he was not EBF by that point.
