What time do you get up in the morning?

I posted this on another thread but I seem to be the only one running out of the house half dressed :) How do you other ebf working mothers do this?

I was just wondering what time you get up in the morning and what your rountine is.

My DS is 4 months old and I've been back at work for 3 weeks now.

I get up at 6am, express, feed and change DS, have a shower, wash and sterilise my pump to bring to work, pack his bag, open blinds, do a 1 minute sweep of the living room.

I have to leave the house at 7.45 to be at work for 9 and I'm always running out just before 8. As soon as I get in the car I look down at myself to make sure I've all my clothes on!

I don't even have to leave DS to a creche as DH looks after him 2 days and dad picks him up the other 2 days.

Is this normal? Is this what all working mothers go through every morning? Checking to see that we've got dressed!

Oh and another thing. I know that washing the pump takes less then a minute but it's a pita having to wash and sterilise it every time I use it!

You don't have to wash and sterlise pump each time you use it. If you put it in a zip lock type bag and keep in fridge should be ok for 24 hours probably longer as BM ok in fridge for 5 days, then just need to wash and sterilise once per day.

DS2 has formula in the day though so I am not EBF but to be honest it takes longer now he has breakfast and I have to feed him. TBH the baby is the least of it, harder to persuade DS1 (4) and DD (7) to get dressed and not argue about their breakfast.

I get up at 6.45am, fed DS2 (7 months) in bed until 7am. Then have super quick shower and get dressed. At 7.30am wake up DD and DS1 and help them get dressed for school.

We must all be eating breakfast by 7.45am, and nanny comes at 8am on my working days, need to leave to go to work (and kids to school) by 8.15am.

I used to express at work (twice, but now once) and in evenings. Sod getting earlier than I need to Grin, but I'm a night person.

Pump washed the night before and chucked in the fridge ready for the morning.

tbh in the mornings (since I do the night feeds) DH takes DD after she's fed. He then gives her porridge, gets her dressed. He also packs the rest of my bag and has a cup of and some toast ready for when I get up.

Before weaning I'd feed her when she woke 6ish and then 10mins before I left 8ish I'd feed her again and then leg it.

Housework either happens after meals or at the weekends.

remember there are two of you to do the parenting.

Benn back at work for three weeks, ita going ok - Awake at 6am, feed DD in bed, then hopefully get her back to sleep in bed with Dh.

Shower, dressed, breakfast (although sometimes this is toast wrapped in tinfoil, eaten at the traffic lights!)

Out of the house at 7:15, with DD. DH changes her nappy whilst I put bags in the car.

Good advice above - I wash pump in very hot water, in ziplock bag, the night before, all I do in the morn now is get milk out of fridge, and freezerblocks for coolbag where pump and milk are kept. pump once a day at work, DD will have formula and EBM, now freezer stash is gone.

I still have to check I am fully dressed though! And have list written up on board in kitchen for things to remember in morn. Have to do everything (lunch, pack bags etc) the night before, hate early mornings.

Oh gosh I never sterilised the pump every time. I would leave it in the fridge for 24 hours, sometimes longer.

Get up at 6am, feed DS while DH showers and dresses, DH dresses DS while I shower, they both leave for work and nursery, by 6.30 I eat breakfast, walk the dog, and catch the 7.30 bus. Pump sterilized and put together the night before, nursery bag packed the night before (just put the bottles of EBM from the fridge into the bag), all my bags and papers sorted the night before.. I even pre-fill the kettle and pre-soak my porridge to keep it as streamlined as possible!

Does your first thing in the morning express session get you the most milk? Is that why you do it then? Cos it strikes me that could save you time, if you got to work and expressed first thing there. Also, yes, you definitely don't need to wash and sterilize your pump after every use. Ziploc bag, in fridge, job's a good'un. :)
