Frequent pooing in BF 5 month old - tummy bug?

DD usually has one dirty nappy a day for a few months now. This increased to 2 a day a week ago, but in the last couple of days there have been loads. Last night around 3 am she woke up, fed, had a dirty nappy. I changed her & tried to get her back asleep. She was awake for another hour until she poo-ed again. After I changed her again, she fell back asleep.

She had several more dirty nappies today - mostly pretty small but accompanied by lots of wind & sound effects. She just woke again... stayed awake for 20 mins - poo-ed a little and passed wind & promptly fell back asleep.

She seems to be straining, but the texture of the poo itself hasn't changed. But she's obviously in some discomfort if it wakes her? She's also passing lots of wind in the last week or so. I haven't changed anything in my diet or anything, but I have had a slightly upset stomach myself.

Any ideas? Something to visit the GP about or am I stressing over nothing? Her sleep is bad enough without adding this to the mix to be honest!

DD had this a couple of weeks ago, same age.

Hers were slightly more runny, but they're back to normal this week although still much more frequent than before. Almost after every feed.

I took her to the GP who said she didn't seem 'ill' - she was alert, responsive (smily), feeding fine, no temp - so as long as she was drinking and weeing plenty it was fine.

At the time I wondered if it was because I was drinking lots of hot Ribena (vit C overload?) but now I wonder if maybe it was just her gut changing in preparation for solids? If there is such a thing Confused I've probably just made that up Grin

Sorry if that's not very helpful Blush

Actually I should have mentioned that she doesn't seem ill either - I've checked her temp etc & she is mostly in good form.

So almost the same symptoms as your DD DancingThroughLife.

It sounds like it. Maybe there's something in the air...?
